Principal's Message

Dear TEACH Academy Parents and Students,

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year! On behalf of TEACH Public Schools and the entire TEACH Academy of Technologies (TAT) staff, we would like to welcome all new and returning TEACH Academy families! We are looking forward to working together with everyone in order to ensure another successful school year. Our efforts will be focused on teaching our students the essential 21stcentury skills needed in order to be college and career ready. We also understand the importance of teaching our students to think critically so that they may be productive and successful world citizens.

It's my honor to serve as TAT’s new Principal as of this fall…navigating our TEACH scholars through their amazing academic journey. Additionally, we are also excited to not only focus on academic success but TAT scholar’s social/emotional needs with the newly created Student Support Services Center addressing these equally important items to support the whole child.

The Parent/Student Handbook offers information about our school policies and procedures in order to help parents and students have a successful school year. Our school staff is readily available should you have any questions pertaining to our handbook.

Our teachers will continue focusing on teaching our students the California state standards with an emphasis on how to apply them in a real-world setting. Our students in 5-8 will be continuously be assessed throughout the school year with our curriculum embedded assessments. Teachers will be using student data to drive their instruction in order to meet the needs of every student. Additionally, all our students will be taking the CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) that will be assessing our students in their understanding of the California State Standards in ELA and Math. This test will be administered online and will require students to have typing skills in order to respond to questions in ELA and Math. TEACH Academy will be working diligently with students during core content classes in order to ensure that students have the necessary skills needed to take the test. More information will be forthcoming on how you can help prepare your child for the test. We would like to continue to collaborate with all TEACH Academy families in order to work collectively to meet the needs of all students.

Included, are a list of all of our school’s policies, procedures, and legal mandates that must be followed in order to comply with District, State, and Federal laws. Please read this handbook carefully as it contains very important information that will answer many of your questions on a variety of topics.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I’m here to support!

Warm Regards,

Ms. Suzette Torres
