About Mr. Foy
Mr. Foy spent six years of his life in the journalism world after receiving a B.A. in Print and Digital Journalism from the University of Southern California. A few years later, Mr. Foy earned his English teaching credential through the Cal State Long Beach teaching program. As a lifelong reader and writer, and after three years of teaching in Los Angeles County, including Cerritos High School, Discovery Charter Prep School in Sylmar, New Designs Charter Academy in South L.A. and most recently PUC Nueva Esperanza in San Fernando. It is so rewarding to work with youth and help them build the skills they need to succeed in today’s competitive environment, and hopefully inspire a lifelong love of reading and writing, paying forward the skills I learned through my education both in and out of the classroom. With a majority of his experience teaching high school students, Mr. Foy had the opportunity to teach incoming sixth grade students at New Designs Charter Academy over their summer program. Then, at Nueva Esperanza, Mr. Foy taught eighth graders and combined his experience of teaching high school students, preparing them for college and beyond. He is excited to teach this year at TEACH Academy of Technologies and working with students to do the same, focusing on building communication skills - written, verbal and working with peers to provide constructive feedback, comprehension and analysis, and reading a wide variety of texts.
